A little bit of politeness goes a long way!

I just got a reply from someone who actually sounds like they give a damn about their customers!  (Excuse me while I fall over with the shock of it all!)  They finally replied, and for that I am very grateful.  I do need to point out that several tweets from myself and others were aimed in their direction for months and were ignored, I had to send the same identical email twice because ‘Holly’ and her colleagues seemed unable to read, and I received an extremely sarcastic reply to the first message I sent.  Full marks for friendliness!  How not to treat your customers and how not to run a Twitter account!

Anyway, I am now climbing down from my pedestal, and am quite happy with the apology I’ve just received.  Having said that, I’ll never drink a drop of FourRoses Bourbon, not that I had the opportunity to try it anyway – with it being an empty jam jar an’ all. (raises eyebrow)

Here is the reply.  I can’t make fun of it, because it’s very professional and polite.  The poor man must have a hell of a life sharing an office with Holly, it would be enough to drive anyone to drink I’m sure.

(My emailed reply is the next blog entry)

Dear Kay,

Thank you for your email and please let me say at once how sorry I am for the delay in responding to this. Thank you for your patience and for taking the time to write to us with your comments.

I was most concerned to hear that you felt disappointed with your prize. I can confirm that Four Roses have been staging various ‘Speakeasy’ events and in keeping with Speakeasy tradition during prohibition times in certain parts of America, drinks at these events have been served in branded Four Roses jam jars. The competition was run in conjunction with these events, giving competition winners the opportunity to own branded Four Roses merchandise. The previous tweets had given an indication of our various ‘speakeasy’ led activities at the time, hence we found the majority of our competition winners were delighted with their jam jars.

The competition was advertised as such:
Fancy winning a Four Roses jam jar? First 10 in the UK to tweet our brand page on their profile gets one http://twitter.com/Four_RosesB

At no time did Four Roses indicate that anything other than the jam jar itself would be won, however I apologise that you found the competition to be misleading. The picture of the jam jar with liquid in it was merely to show intended use of the jam jar – we were under the impression that the straw in the jam jar would give some indication that this was a cocktail and not jam. Furthermore, I regret that the packaging of the item caused disappointment; I can assure you that this was certainly not our intention.

Once again, please accept my sincere apologies that the prize did not meet your expectations and I do hope that this letter goes someway to restoring your faith in Four Roses. If I can be of any further help please do not hesitate to contact me.

Kind regards,
Antoni Heatley
